I am a potter and artist.
I trained in production throwing at North Street Potters in London, before joining the collective. since then I have worked at Selborne Pottery in Hampshire and have recently completed a Masters in Ceramics at Bath School of Art and Design.
I make functional stoneware pots of all shapes and sizes in a variety of glazes.
Alongside my functional work I use clay as a medium to explore the reciprocal relationship between body, space and ground.
As an artist, I aim to constantly engage with the ongoing dialogue between maker and material. I am interested in the reciprocity generated and felt through bodily and material awareness. The interplay between contraction and expansion, the visible and the invisible, the in-breath and the out-breath; this can be found both in the body and in the body’s interaction with the clay. Finding control through contraction, focus and concentration, only to relinquish, let go and expand into creativity is integral to my work and is mirrored in my experience of being in my body.
